Maintenance Tips for your Car Parts

To keep your car in tip top performance, Academy Car Sales recommend you follow some simple guidelines in order to keep your used car performing to its optimum.

Under the bonnet:

It is important to ensure that the engine always has both oil and water in order for it to function properly. You should check your oil every 3,000 km and water once a month especially during the winter months.

Tyre Pressure:

Bad tyre pressure can not only lead to damage to the axle but also have an impact on fuel consumption. Bad tyre pressure decreases the MPG of your vehicle. The correct pressure level is usually available in the car’s manual but can also be obtained by asking your dealer.

Wash your car:

Not only will this ensure your car always looks stunning, washing your car is a great way to help prevent rust. This is especially important during the winter months as road salt applied in times of snow increases the likelihood of rust. It is advised to wash away any salt deposits from wheel arches and underneath the car after your journey.

Use only original parts:

Although in some cases slightly more expensive, we advise all our customers to use only original parts when any repairs are needed. A quick buck saved often leads to a big expense later as non-original parts often fail to perform.
